It has been three months since the accident and Lauren continues to improve daily. Everyone has consistently told us that it takes a long time for the brain to recover. It seems like a long time to those of us who love her, but she has done remarkably well. I am grateful for every little sign of improvement, but I am asking God for more. She continues to do well at her outpatient therapies. I don't know when it will be time, but she will be seeing a vocational therapist as well. Her memory is great, even her short term memory, but she has no memory of the accident or a day or two before that.
Next week she is scheduled to see an ear, nose and throat specialist because her voice is so weak. It is getting stronger, but much of the time she sounds rather hoarse. They will need to check her vocal folds to make sure nothing was cut or damaged. I would ask you to pray for her regarding that issue. Thanks again for your prayers and concern for her and her loved ones. You really learn who your friends are during a time like this and I am grateful for each one. I'll be back to let you know how things are going.
